Title: Medieval Webquest
Preservice Teachers: Abigail Koch, Aileen Lauer, Heather Thomas
Grade Level: 4th grade/ Social Studies
This webquest will allow students to discover and learn about many aspects of medieval living and the classes of people who lived during this time period.
Objectives:
Instructions for the teacher:
-The teacher will divide the students into four cooperative learning groups.
-Each group will be assigned a social class for researching: peasant, merchant, friar or knight.
-The groups will follow the instructions of the webquest in order to research their particular topic.
-Each topic page has a word document provided for each group to utilize and complete while conducting their research. This document will be helpful when completing the final stage of the actual petition creation.
-The teacher will supervise the students throughout the activity while remaining vigilant of the progress of each group. The teacher will offer assistance as needed.
-The conclusion of this lesson involves the presentation of the petitions. This will occur upon the completion of all groups.
-Each group will present their unique petition to the class with each group member contributing a portion of the presentation.
-After each petition has been presented follow up with a short reflection writing assignment. The reflection from each student doesn't need to be more than a page. The written reflection can be either about what the student would do if he/she were king, and the people were about to rebel, or the students can reflect on which member of a medieval class they would most or least want to be and why,or the students can come up with your own idea and get it approved by the teacher.

- Students will use a webquest to follow instructions and complete a given task.
- Students will compile and record necessary information which will be used during the creation of their medieval petition.
- Students will present their knowledge of the information by presenting their unique petitions (posters), as small groups, to their classmates during a cultimating activity.
